Obama Remains On The Defensive

Again Barack Obama has been forced to explain recent comments. This time he has been accused of criticizing small town voters.
"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, a lot of them — like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they’ve gone through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, and they cling to guns, or religion, or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."In reply to his opponents attacks, Obama has stated that for most of his life he has been in those "low-income communities."
For the most part the comments Obama made about small towns are true. I use to live in a small town and I've seen this "bitterness" first hand; its just human nature to blame something else for your problems. Also it is unfortunate that Obama is frequently becoming attacked for his statements. It seems as if he is just trying to point out some of areas of concern in America in an effort to fix them. Politics should be more about candidates working towards improving the country, not them trying to create and expose their opponents' flaws.
